PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Neuamnn M 149 Tube is a large diagram condenser microphone modeled after Neumann’s famous M 49 microphone. Combining the classic K47/49 large diaphragm capsule with Neumann’s innovative transformerless tube circuit, the M 149 offers the best of both worlds: the unmistakable sound of analog tube amplification and the flexibility of modern low-noise microphones. Featuring 9 selectable polar patterns and a 7-position low cut filter, there’s nothing the M 149 can’t do.
AWARD-WINNING DESIGN
The M 149 Tube is inspired by a long lineage of innovative microphones. Inspired by the legendary M 49 microphone, released in the 1950s as a modernized version of the iconic U 47, the M 149 continues the tradition of combining the unmistakable Neumann tone with innovative new features.
Equipped with the classic K 47/49 dual large diaphragm capsule, the M 149 Tube delivers the same balance and unmatched presence found in the M 49 and U 47. The capsule signal is then amplified by a subminiature triode tube to ensure minimal self-noise. Finally, the M 149 introduces an all-new high-precision, ultra-low distortion transformerless output stage, for improved transient response.
WHERE VINTAGE MEETS VERSATILE
The M 149 is one of the most versatile microphones ever made. Capture the perfect amount of ambience in any situation with nine selectable polar patterns including omni, wide cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid, figure-8, and four intermediate positions. Fine tune your tone at the source with the 7-position low cut filter, offering bass reduction from 20 Hz to 160 Hz in half-octave steps. Combined with an incredibly low self-noise of 13 dB-A, the M 149 Tube is a truly universal microphone for the modern studio.
Just like its predecessors, the M 149 is a superb vocal microphone, but unlike most tube mics, it also excels at capturing intimate performances. Perfect for piano, acoustic and electric guitar, upright bass, percussion, drums overheads, as well as solo strings, brass and woodwind instruments and more, the M 149 is ideal for recording almost any sound source.
